walks onstage and introduces "the guys" ... um ... i thought he was cee-lo...
and at this point i still thought it was cee-lo. it wasn't until i talked with him backstage. wait. i still thought it was cee-lo. but j, when i made a remark about cee-lo, says to me "that's not cee-lo; that's jermaine dupri, freak."
i wondered because
cee-lo was a bit bigger than jermaine. i mean ... jermaine is "pretty little" but he's very nice.
the guys attracted a pretty good crowd...
honestly, i've never seen -- besides am and travis -- a dj and a drummer do a set. i think it's cool because it doesn't look all that easy.
how many other dj's could pull that off?
not many.
so ... basically ... i had one flash just to the right of centerstage on a little stand. another flash was held by
j ...
anytime i pointed my camera at am ... j would raise her arm up out of the crowd and aim it toward am.
had the flash trigger on my beast. worked very well.
wouldn't normally use flash but it was DARK DARK DARK.
just as our friend jermaine found out...
i believe that is a summicron. hmm ... at iso 800 with the m8 ... he would have been at like a fifteenth ... wide open ...
then again, i doubt he was on manual.
and ... 800 ... is about the top of the game iso-wise for the m8.
wonder if he's liking what he's seeing.
i kinda don't think he was.
the 35 becomes a bastardized fifty. and ... from his angle ... um ...
not so much.
when i was backstage i said "hows that m8 treating you?"
"yeah, i like it .. it's cool."
i still don't think he knew what an m8 was even though it was around his neck.
in a fucking leather case that only old men use to protect their lovely "gear."
hmm...
anyway.
it's all good.
i just think it's funny when people go out of their way to protect equipment.
use it.
abuse it.
make photos with it.
never ever fondle it. ;)
kinda-normal exposure...
and ...
on acid.
oh ... the colours. ;)
there were colours every-fucking-where.
and nowhere...
i really liked 4 and 6 second exposures last night. ;)
had no clue who this was.
again, j knew: too short.
my friend niko says "you really need to step up your urban game."
"what urban game?"
;)
it's so much fun to shoot drummers at slow shutter speeds with multiple flashes...
seriously, the canon eos 1ds mark 3 ... i don't know if there's ever been a better -- for my needs -- digital camera ever made.
i know. the d3 is very nice.
i know.
oh, yeah ... more colours...
that was a 5d with the 50/1.4, though.
which is another amazing digital camera ... especially for the money.
off the topic of drummers and dj's ... in france ... when i heard about the fact street photography is pretty much fucking dead because of some stupid-ass socialistic fucking law regarding everyone owning their own image of themselves as copyright ...
dumbassphotographeronline ...
completely plagiarized the french law when he "came up" with his own law to combat the paparazzi! shouldn't the dumbass learn how to make photos of things other than apples on a black background than reading a french law and plagiarizing?
fucking "experts" on the web. they're everywhere. ;)
hope your collective week is going well.
i get to travel!
cheers from the now-overcast l.a.!
p.s., the magic is in the hole ... butterfingering and triple chocolate penetration. no one got it! ;)
